Coop is turning 150 this year and is celebrating by relaunching a number of classics in upgraded versions. The first is POKAL beer, which back in the 1980s was the third best-selling beer in Denmark, probably mostly because it was really cheap.
The new POKAL beer is currently available in four varieties (Pilsner, Classic, Red Lager and Dark Lager).

Copenhagen 1576 2016. 50 cl bottle from Fakta, Frederiksborgvej, Kbh. NV. Part of a 150 year anniversary for COOP. They found that the right way to celebrate this was by rebranding their discount beer Pokal.
Very foamy upon opening making a sordid mess on my kitchen table. Pours hazy pale yellow with a very big white head. Stable. Settles as a 1 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Not much aroma. A little sour citrus intermingling with malty sweetness. Sweet pale malts and lemon.
Strong carbonation and watery palate. Lively texture.
Flavor is light citric sourness with a sweet undercurrent. Slightly sourish bitter aftertaste.
Quite forgettable.
