Shop: Limburgs speciality shop downstairs in the Mosae Forum in Maastricht, The Netherlands
Glass: Palm speciale Snifter
Name on Label: Donder
Image on Label: Lightning bolt over a landscape with trees dominant colors violet and black
ABV: 7.5%
Ingredients according to label: Water, malt, black malt, hops, yeast, mushrooms
Expiry date: 15SEP14
LOT: n/a
Huge beige head fine to medium bubbled head that reduces slowly, also nice lacing. Lots of fine carbonation visible in clear very dark amber body.
Smells of malt, yeast and also musty which could be the mushrooms
Taste is bitter and a bit metallic not much else. Do I taste the mushrooms, well I really can't say. Maybe there is an earthiness to it
Feels a bit watery, carbonation is very fine.
Looks are great but everything else is very moderate. There is nothing disgusting either. Luckily there are so many other beers in the world.

Donder, thunder, new sort of dark ale, appearantly one of the flavouring ingredients: mushrooms. I don't know why.
Dark brown colour, good creamy head.
Smell is very powerfull citric and floral hops, remarkable for a dark ale. None of the announced fungi yet.
Taste is very hoppy, with clear liquorish in the background, and a bit of spice.
Bitterness and dryness, not much sweet stuff.
Refreshing drink, but not really spectacular.
