500ml bottle.
L: Clear, pale amber colour, one finger of white head recedes to a ring, few spots of lacing.
S: Some malt but not much.
T: Malt, flowery hops, semi-sweet with light bitterness, caramel finish.
F: Smooth, very smooth.
O: Traditional, slightly above-average ABV, English pale ale. Not bad. But is it an IPA?

L- Rich golden colour. Pours with 5mm white head. Gentle rising carbonation.
S- Fresh especially from a clear citrus angle to the aroma.
T- Dry and notably hoppy
F- It has quite powerful flavours but delivers them via a pretty refreshing and well balanced mouth-feel.
O- A good alternative in summer to 'the usual lagers'. This brings some complexity but is fresh and clean tasting and refreshing. I've been underwhelmed with other Duchy beers this week, but this one I rather like.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Jan 2019. Acquired recently from Waitrose. The label describes it as an organic English IPA hopped with Sovereign.
A: Poured into a tulip pint glass. A rich amber colour with excellent clarity and good carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before reducing to a patchy surface layer.
S: Aroma of leafy stewed hops with hints of grainy malt, mild barley sugar, fruity ale yeast, hay, faint spice and a lurking sulphurous twang in the background. Traditional but not very interesting.
T: Tastes of leafy hops with notes of grainy malt, fruity ale yeast, subtle barley sugar, hay/grass, mild spice and a harsh, sulphurous hint in the background. Pretty dry, accompanied by a substantial leafy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with lively carbonation and decent body. Somewhat astringent; dries the palate. Aftertaste of bitter stewed hops, grainy malt, ale yeast and a touch of acrid cardboard.
O: OK but not great - a traditional flavour profile that won't be to everyone's taste. Looks alright, while the aroma and flavour showcase bitter leafy hops underpinned by ale yeast and pale malt. Decent body. Drinkable but lacking in the aromatic hop character that is the calling card of a modern IPA. Well made but unexciting. No need to hunt it down.

Bottled and not bottle conditioned which I expect from organic
Cope body half decent white head
Smells like an okay bottle of bitter
Likewise with flavour
Thin for the abv
Not terrible but not what I expect from an IPA

Light orange. Good effervescence. Thin head.
Odour of mildly citrus hops.
Well balanced hop to malt ratio but lacking any fullness in taste.
Moderate mouthfeel.
Standard English IPA but good for that.
