A 330ml bottle with a BB of July 2017. Picked up recently from Home Bargains. This is a gluten-free 'crafted golden beer', hopped with Styrian Goldings. The ingredients include barley, so presumably the gluten is removed with enzymes.
A: Poured into a tulip. A rich golden hue with faint haze and moderate carbonation. Yields a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before settling as a surface layer.
S: Aroma of light malt with hints of mild grain, light stewed hops, ale yeast and a twinge of sulphur. There is an odd, vaguely solvent-like note that I can't place. Pretty bland.
T: Tastes of pale malt with hints of stewed hops, ale yeast, faint grain and cooked leaves. A subtle and slightly acrid bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is light and tingly, with spritzy carbonation. Pretty thin body but that's probably to be expected. Aftertaste of harsh stewed leaves, husks and ale yeast.
O: Meh - dull stuff. Looks quite good, but the aroma and flavour are short on character. Watery body. Mild off-notes. I guess it's nice that there's an offering for the gluten intolerant, but this is an uninspired brew. Would benefit from recipe improvement. No need to seek it out.
