A 500ml bottle with a BB of July 2018. Acquired a little while back from ALDI. The label calls it a red beer with a maple syrup twist.
A: Poured into a pint mug. A deep coppery-reddish colour with good clarity and plentiful carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a minute or two before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Nice lacing.
S: Aroma of caramel malt with hints of stewed leaves, fruity ale yeast, subtle hay, vague grain husks and a twinge of maple syrup. OK but unexciting.
T: Tastes of caramel malt with notes of stewed leaves, husks, hay, ale yeast and a mild earthiness. Faintly sweet, followed by a moderate leafy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and decent body for the strength. Aftertaste of caramel malt, bitter stewed leaves/husks and ale yeast.
O: Alright but nothing special. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are an unimaginitive blend of caramel malt, leafy stewed hops and ale yeast. Body is OK. Not much evidence of maple syrup beyond the merest whiff. Goes down easily enough but pretty forgettable - no need to hunt it down.

Bottle. Clear chestnut colour. Maintained light tan frothy head.
Sweet malty aroma.
Caramel flavour. Initial maple sweetness is balanced by a bitter finish.
Medium body and feel.
Another rather non descript offering from Wychwood.
