In the history of ginger beer one of the first productions is attributed to the famous London beverage company, (founder Johann Jacobs Schweppe, German jeweler) At the turn of the First World War he produced the Scheppes ginger beer. With us the ZINGIBEER is produced using fresh ginger which gives refreshing and digestive properties.

Doppio Malto Brew Restaurant "Zingi Beer"
€7 / 40cl glass on tap at the brewery on 27 June 2018

Notes: Very hazy orange-amber in color beneath a short but creamy head of off-white. Excellent head retention and lacing. The aroma is mainly of sweetish golden malt. The flavor delivers a pleasant amount of ginger and non-specific citrusy hops over a lightly caramelish malt base. It's not as gingery as some of the specialty ginger ales on the market but it's noticeable. Median bitterness. Dry and spicy finish with a little bit of everything lingering shortly. Medium bodied with a standard carbonation level. I give this a little bit of extra credit for getting the balance of the ginger right. Refreshing!

Dark brown, beige foam, quite scarce.
Ginger dominated smell. Underneath some biscuit and a light fruitiness.
Even stroger ginger in the mouth, and long standing.
Under that, fruitiness (bergamot, pear, quince).
Relatively fresh finish, light piquant, fro an easy drinkability.
After all, OK.

Amber color with a fluffy head with short retention.
As expected predominant aroma of ginger with hints of caramels and coconut. Nice, not cloying.
Flavor of ginger, slightly toasted malts, spices, coconut, maybe cocoa and nice orange citrusy notes. Dry aftertaste with a mild bitterness and a bit acid.
Light to medium body with medium carbonation with tiny bubbles.
Although I love sushi with lots of ginger, I am not a huge fan of ginger beers, unless it is just a harmless hint. That said, although ginger is clearly predominant, this still tastes like beer. If you like ginger beers, this is a safe harbor.
