good heavens this is weird beer. old now, but still dynamic as can be, more intensely sour than the others they made in this sake yeast series, such a cool line of beers by the way, if you can still find them around, dive in, well worth it. this one pours a shockingly milky white straw color, almost gross looking, thick and flat, but i know its like this because of the yeast and the age, and so i move on. the nose is tangy and fruity, acidic for sure, mouthwatering, but still somehow not all that interesting, especially after i taste it, it never gives it self up in the aroma. the flavor is crazy, literally insane, intense deep passion fruit, natural as can be despite this not having fruit in it, lemon rind, peach or apricot, and a white wine element. somehow this has gone insanely sour over time, like, after the swallow the tongue buckling acidity keeps going and going, citrus at first, tropical fruit punch, a vodka based umbrella drink thats an unnatural color, and the honest to goodness sake quality. such a strange beverage, it even feels ricey, starchy, and milky, earthy and thick, not all the way appealing in the feel, but unique enough to push the boundaries of beer. i wonder how much of this is from the age compared to what it was like fresh, but either way, its a strangely delightful highly sour little passion fruit bomb. delicious and without peers. definitely the most striking beer in this series...
