One of those double ipas that come in appearance wise like a barleywine, auburn. Small thin head. Aroma was rather muted and owed more to the barleywine style than a dry hopped dipa as well.
Alcohol seemed pronounced, caramel came out hard. It did finally impart some hop flavors, the usual pine and citrus in a good way. There's a pronounced bitterness to go along with it, so I suspect they hit up the c hops in a big way. I get a lot more grapefruit compared to anything tropical. Good stuff somewhere in that 2nd or 3rd tier dipa realm, but hardly anything to track down absent the most menial amount of effort.

On tap at Hollister Brewing Company in Goleta, CA.
Pours a clear gold with a foamy off-white head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, herbal hops, and slight citrus aromas. Taste is much the same with honey and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has a better taste over smell in my opinion.

Pours a golden orange color with a white head and some mild lacing. A lot of fruity hop notes on the aroma. Heavy on the pineapple and grapefruit, for the most part. There is a touch of caramel with a fair amount of pine. Nicely fruity, though somewhat sweet. Tropical fruits, pineapple, and grapefruit along with a little sweetness of caramel. The pine hop flavor does provide a nice bitterness, too.

Reviewed on 12/23/2009. Growler thanks to mkade8883 (thanks Matt!). Pours a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma of citrus, sweat, crackery malt, and hop oils. Flavor of sweet citrus and grapefruit with the same rich, sweaty hop oils. Very light for a 9% DIPA. Awesome IIPA, I'm glad I got the chance to try this.
