Served on cask at the brewpub. My first cask ale. The server brought it to the table looking really unsettled, almost like a nitro, and it took a minute to settle with a dense, creamy head. Dark gold color. The aroma is subtly hoppy with citrus and grass aroma. The flavor has a sweet, toasty maltiness and pretty aggressive hops, nearing IPA territory. I've gotten used to a good dose of hops in most of Hollister's beers, and this is pretty nice, but the malts are bringing a slightly annoying syrupy sweetness. The mouthfeel is really soft and creamy, as I figured cask would be. OK, and the cask conditioning is cool and I like that they have a beer on cask all the time, but I don't like it as much as their beer with hops pale ale.

Consumed 05/25/08.

Deep coppery color. Clear with lots of active carbonation. Small white head with good lacing.

Oddly, no aroma. Odd because of the flavor, which is...

Flavor is all Cascade. Like pine sap. Astringent. Bitter aftertaste. No malt flavor evident at all. Hop bomb.

Not a fan of this unbalanced brew, though hopheads may enjoy its rude and one-deminsional flavor.
