On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown with a medium beige head leaving lasting foam. Malty aroma with molasses, caramel, and light smoke. Molasses, a hint of roast and smoke, and high hop flavor for the style. Sweet, but with enough hops to balance, along with some bitter coffee influence from the roasted malt. Medium bodied, with just a bit more carbonation that I feel would be optimum for the style. Overall, pretty tasty, though I would have liked a bit more smoky malt in there. Almost like a standard brown with a bit more malt. The hops were definitely more assertive than in most scotch ales, which I liked, and is definitely par for Hollister.
