This Oatmeal Stout is brewed with loads of flaked oats and chocolate malts, then finished with freshly roasted Verve Roaster’s coffee beans and TCHO organic cacao nibs.

On tap at Hollister Brewing Company in Goleta, CA.
Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt and intense cocoa nib and coffee bean aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and coffee flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with some great aromas and flavors.

Picked up a growler on Tuesday and cracked it last night.
A: Pours black with a 1/2" tan head with large bubbles which fades to the rim leaving spotty lace.
N: Fresh roasted coffee and dark chocolate with some char.
T: Follows nose. Dominated by roasty coffee notes with the chocolate somewhat muted.
M: Medium body and carbonation. A tad thin. Mildly bitter with a roasted coffee finish.
O: Like cold coffee with faint chocolate. Nice, but could have been more. Low ABV makes this sessionable.

Beer tastes very similar to their other coffee stout, Shaky Hands, but is definitely worse.
Appearance, smell, and mouthfeel are all pretty good, but taste leaves something to be desired. At first taste, the beer is extremely pleasing, but then leaves a weird and slightly unpleasant aftertaste.
