This was acquired via Henrik himself in a past trade! This was the barrel aged version of the beer brewed in honor of his 10,000th review on RateBeer. Served from bottle into a Trappist Westvleteren chalice. Poured a murky brown with a one finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, dark fruit, sweet alcohol, fruit, bread, wood, and subtle raisins. The flavor was of sweet malt, dark fruit, raisins, wood, sweet alcohol, fruit, and subtle vanilla. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a good brew. Sadly this one left a little to be desired in the appearance. However, the rest of the beer totally made up for this. Standard solid quadruple nose with nice tones of raisins and wood added. This was quite pleasant to smell. The flavor was another notch above. Very well balanced and everything has a balanced note/aspect to go with it. Everything on the flavor just fell into place and made it a very enjoyable experience. The mouth feel was a little thin for a quad, but the carbonation was spot on. A well done brew that I am honored to try. Tick.
