A Belgian-style quad aged in Grand Marnier Liqueur barrels.
Dark orange pour with some ruby tinges up towards the light, two finger head that dissipates to a thick lace and a big white cap on the surface.
Smell of orange jam and liqueur up front, lots of bitter peel too, some boozy raisin, red wine/cognac, rich wood stave, some cherry and vinegar, caramel, very faint chocolate, some vanilla some funky herbs too. Quite complex, nice.
Warm alcohol pinches right from the start, with tons of sweet oranges and a nice cognac aroma, not too smooth but rather acidic, with some country-made red wine in there, some sour red grapes, berries and tart cherries. It works very well tho, adding another layer to the bittersweet start. There's evena faint tropical note in there. Gets sweeter with fig and raisin, caramel, plus a nice dose of vanilla, and funkier with vinegar and some faint hay. Finishes with a (faintly minty) herbal note, wood, more warm alcohol and a mild bitterness.
Medium to light body, so is the carbonation. Rich aftertaste, fruity, nice barrel notes, funky-sour, bittersweet. Alcohol is just strong enough to give that liqueur punch, but is never boozy.
Really complex, loved this barrel aging. Might seem a bit too sweet for some, it was just on the limit for me. I imagine this is really good during the winter, but i caught a bit of a cold now, so it fit. Perfectly.
