With the success of Hr. Frederiksen imperial stout, the Amager team sets their sights higher. Borrowing what's best from cognac, port and whisky barrels, the long slumber of that stout emerges from an oaken cocoon with a plethora of complexity.
Onyx black and deeply inky, the beer's visual density is cut with brandy-like legging and a creamy mocha cap. Rich chocolates, dark fruit and savory wine and whisky lure the nose while its taste is sultry and sweet with burnt caramel, espresso, fudge and walnut.
With the beer's succulent richness in tact, the tastebuds saturate fully with wonderfully burnt sweetness. Akin to roasted marshmallow, espresso and bittersweet chocolate, its cakey texture is remiss of dense fudge and strong molasses. Then the aged character of the stout shares a savory port, sherry and madiera taste that's off teryaki but devilshly boozy, meaty and sweet. Spicy with bourbon, nuances of coconut, caramel and vanilla round into a peppery, oaky and tannin-filled finish. All the while, an aura of smoldering embers and burnt woods apply a smoky and ashy taste throughout.
As the stout's sugars align the mouth, the wood spices deliver a powder-fine dryness in balance. Full, lavish and powerfully decadent, the stout's spicy alcohols are numbing and chocked full of peppercorn. Trailing with the savory booziness of cognac and port, the beer's fortified wine influence trails past the roast and bourbon in a long lingering affair.

Aged in red wine, port wine, and cognac barrels.
Black color. Tan head.
Roasted malts. Peat and smoke. Typical European stout. The port and cognac show nicely once you did through the roast and peat/char. Chocolate and molasses with dark fruits.
Full bodied.
Solid, but I'd like it with out the smoke and char.
