Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. Batch No. 100.
The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is chocolate, dark fruit, oak, coffee and alcohol. The flavors include oak, tart dark fruit, chocolate, wine, leather, burnt malts and alcohol. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pours a wonderfully mahogany brown nearing on black hue with a denser dark tan head that lasts the entire way through the sample. Nice residual rings of lacing, and was really impressed by the look.
Unfortunately, the impressiveness of the brew stops at the appearance. Aroma is slightly sour and woody with hint of very bitter coffee, an almost astringent hop aroma slides in to make things really strange. Catch a faint whiff of alcohol in the aroma as well. The taste mostly mirrors the nose with a kind of strange lacto sweet/sourness the underlies the coffee. Bitter chocolate, and the alcohol doesn't rear in the taste, but the woodiness comes through a bit. It's a really messy brew, and the astringent qualities are really not enjoyable and detract from what would have been some nicer touches. MF is medium with livelier carbonation. Definitely a sipping brew by definition, but the odd flavors really get in the way of enjoying this thoroughly. Tough beer in some ways, and definitely not one of the better efforts from this brewery that clearly has the style nailed down with other examples. Nice to experiment, but this one misses.

Brewed with coffee and aged for one year on fresh oak. Limited release of 120 bottles.
Pitch black with a tanned head that leaves some lacings.
The smell is strange and edgy with notes of roasted malts, chemicals (reminds me of paint), coffee, alcohol, and sharp oak aromas.
The flavor is rather sweet and very bitter with strange aromas of chemicals (again, the word paint comes to mind), alcohol and edgy, almost spicy, woody barrel notes. Quite a lot of oak aromas actually. Lots of roasted malts and coffee. The finish is warming and bitter with dry notes of coffee and wood.
Medium body and nicely carbonation.
All in all, mostly just edgy and strange.
