Douglas88 provided this one a while back... Just getting to entering some reviews from the amazing SLC tasting.

Pours deep dark brown... still is clear near the stem of my glass when held to a light. Fantastic dark brown head has nice retention but little in the way of lacing.

Smells pretty hoppy... a bit of pine mixed in with ample dark malts... fruity esters with warmth are puzzling, but still inviting.

Deep dark malt flavors are seemingly magnified by some dark stone fruit esters... dark cherries... prune... fig? Not as hoppy as the nose led me to believe... a small bit of acrid char with warmth.. and a some light phenols as it warms up too.

Medium body with a good carbonation....

Pretty good... tastes more like a stout than a porter to me.

Thanks again Doug, this one never would have been on my radar.

A - Black beer with a light tan head that left some minor spots and faded to a decent looking ring.

S - Smells like a Danish stout, with a decent bit of yeast fruit on the end and some char. A little sweet, has some chocolate notes.

T - Some fruity yeast quality, char, chocolate. Char and sweetness come to the forefront on this one. Little bit of booze.

M - Medium bodied, lower carbonation.

O - Not a bad beer, but nothing I would seek out. Pretty enjoyable to drink.

A - Pours with a finger of tan foam that settles to a thin collar, leaving a few patches of bubbles on top but minimal lacework. Solid near-black dark brown body.

S - Oak, rye, chocolate, whiskey, and that nebulous Danish quality to it - not sure if it's from the yeast or the water. It's fruity, with a slight chocolate malt quality to it.

T - There's a touch of oxidation creeping in, but this has help up relatively well at 2.5 years of age. Oak, light whiskey, roasted malts, a bit of fruity, estery yeast, and a lightly smoked and charry finish.

M - The base porter isn't the biggest beer to begin with and the barrel-aging seems to have left this decidedly medium in body. Dry, roasty, and tannic, albeit with some tooth-coating stickiness that lingers into the finish. Carbonation is pleasant and medium-low.

D - A nice barrel-aged porter. Not going to get any better at this stage, but still pretty enjoyable. Worth trying if you're a Shaun Hill fanboy like me, otherwise non-essential.

This is billed as an 'Imperial Porter' but the closest classification on BA is American IIRS. FWIW

Pours with a finger of lightly khaki head on top of a very dark, deep brown that is very dense looking. OK retention, but not much lacing.

Aroma is full of chocolate, faint kiss of alcohol, deep roasted malts, faint sweetness comes in as well. Little boozy, but really a very rich, full, and pleasant aroma. Taste is very roasty in terms of the maltiness; some chocolate and smoke comes into the flavor as well. Really don't pick up too much heat in the taste, but leaves a bit of residual booze on the breath. Medium to thicker body, but certainly not one of the thickest brews I've come across. Little tiny bubbles for carbonation that are fairly vibrant. A sipping beer that is so tasty that it really demands a full quaff in between the sips. Dangerously drinkable.
