Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a medium size dirty white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of candi sugars and deep caramel malt with some weird herbal and spicy notes. Taste is also dominated by some candi sugars notes and some dry fruits and caramel notes with a finish that recalls seam weird herbal and spicy notes. Body is quite full with limited filtration and good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Brett notes are not nearly as present as I would have expected and weird herbal notes is not that pleasant – OK overall but I don’t feel the need to try this again.

Another bottle from Papsø - thanks Henrik. Served in a tasting snifter.
A - Looks like regular Hr. Papsø, but with a bit less foam and retention. Perhaps a bit more sediment too.
S - What the heck is going on? One of the most bizarre aromas I've encountered in a while. The base quad is present, but it's been largely overwhelmed with port sweetness, funky tropical bubble gum brett cluasenii flavors, and some Indian curry spices. There's also far more alcohol present than there was in Hr. Papsø - this is because it is a newer beer I suppose. Strangely enjoyable.
T - The taste is less strange, and more quad-like in flavor profile. Treacle, toffee, candi sugar, some sweet vinous character, and very little spice or oak present. I'm guessing this port barrel was used a few times before it reached Amager. The finish has an unpleasant bite and sourness to it - I'm not sure if it's the fusel alcohol flavor or the brett, but it's fairly off-putting. Was probably a 3.5 prior to the finish.
M - Nice medium-full body, with medium carbonation, smooth, creamy texture, and a little bit of warming alcohol at the back end. Definitely stronger feel than the original Hr. Papsø.
D - The bizarre aroma and unpleasant aftertaste made this one a challenge. We were unable (or unwilling) to finish the bottle, even split five ways.

375ml corked and caged bottle, courtesy of Papsø. Thanks Henrik! Poured into a New Belgium globe with a caramel brown color and a fluffy tan head. Aromas of port wine, wood and burnt sugar fill the glass. Taste is lively, somewhat tart, with raisins and dark fruit flavors and a good amount of alcoholic bite. Spices and vanilla notes warm the palate.Finishes with a rummy sweetness. Nice stuff.
