Cloudy orange-amber colour with a smooth, creamy, light tan head. Good head retention.

Mellow, citrussy aroma with some mango, grapefruit and catty notes. The aroma seems characteristic of Simcoe.

Disappointing with a clear chrolophenol issue. This is medicinal, phenolic and astringent. The hops are also there as is lots of alcohol but the infection lets it down.

Medium body with moderately-high carbonation. Good.

Like the other Australian reviewer, my bottle appears to be infected. Beer just shouldn't be like this and it isn't difficult to get right as long as you keep the chlorine away.

Served on draught into 20cl Mikkeller stemware at the Mikkeller Bar in Copenhagen, Denmark. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a 2.5 finger head of nice cream and fair thickness. Good retention. Colour is a nontransparent dark red.

Sm: Amber malt sweetness, raspberry fruit, cream, and fruity hops. A mildly strong aroma.

T: Unexpectedly bitter - as though all that was used hopwise were bittering hops, raspberry, fringe esters, lovely cream (especially on the finish), and slight amber malt sweetness. Complex enough, but average quality overall. Balanced.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Complementary of the flavours. Not too thick or too thin.

Dr: Suffers massively from overcommitment to raw hop bitterness, to the detriment of its balance. Hide the hop bitterness behind pale malt sweetness and it'll be a lot better.

500mL bottle thanks to Chris@Slowbeer

Dirty honey on the pour, deep orange in the glass. Quite clouded, with an inch of sudsy, off-white head. Decent retention and good lacing.

Not a very appetising nose for mine. Lots of medicinal and solvent qualities, overripe apple, liquorice and unnerving amounts of raw or barely differentiated alcohol notes. Moderate bready malt character

Barely more palatable. Thick chalky, herbal and vegetal hop character, saved somewhat by a strong sweet malt backbone. Some bizarre flavours I can't quite grasp. Quite reminiscent of Murray's Spartacus.

Syrupy, chewy, forceful and inescapabale. Would be a divine mouthfeel if I liked the aromas and flavours...but I don't really.

One of those beers that oscillates between repugnant and intriguing, but has your attention the whole time. At times it struck me as an unhinged mess, by the end it grew on me somewhat.
