Copenhagen 4/2 2016. 50 cl bottle from Gunnar Madsen Vinhandel, Østerbrogade, Kbh. Ø. Blinking Santa with ice crystals on the label.
Pours hazy red amber with a small yellow head. A bit bubbly. Disappears immediately leaving only thin flimsy foam. Modest lacing.
Aroma reminds me of cough syrup. Lot of anis and cinnamon mixed with alcohol. Potent and sweet.
Low carbonation and oily palate. Viscous, almost flat texture.
Flavor is overwhelmingly sweet with a touch of sweet spice. Sugar, dried fruit, anis and cinnamon. Distinct notes of alcohol.
Reminds me more of a glass of port wine than of beer. An acquired taste - but you can't say that they do not go all in on the Christmas spirit.

From Boxbeers. In Teku glass. Playing Duke Grabowski. With the flu. Dark fruits, lighter than expected body for such abv and christmasty spicyness that im not sure if its suggestion or comes from ingredients

Great spicy floral aroma. Mahogoney brown with tons of lasting head and thick lace down the glass. Honeyish mouthfeel. This is a big sipper and meant to be shared, and easier with food.

Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a relatively large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry raisins, plums and caramelized malt with light candy ester and light residual sugar notes. Taste is also dominated by dry raisins and dry plums notes with some residual sugar notes and light candy ester. Body is a bit light for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I really enjoy this beer which is drinking like a lighter Rochefort.

Appearance: Dark brown, 1/4 inch beige head quickly dissipating.
Smell: Chocolate, molasses, alcoholic...
Taste: Chocolate near the start, sweet, syrupy, some traces of fruit acidity.
Mouthfeel: Full body, syrupy texture, soft/light carbonation.
Overall/Drinkability: Overwhelming sweetness, especially towards the end; pleasantly strong alcoholic character; hard to pair with any type of food, esp. towards the finish.

A: Pours murky copper with a compact brown head that leaves decent lacings.
S: Dark malts, very sweet - dark dried fruits. Spices and faint yeasty notes. But rather mild in smell.
T: Very sweet! Malt dominates, but obviously the sweetness isn't from malt only; there's dark syrup as well. The oak and spruce needles that the label states is only very faint. Milk chocolate is noticabel. Somewhat sour.
M: Aftertaste is sour and sweet, while body is full and carbonation almost non-excisting. Smooth!
O: A kind of nice Quad, but the x-masy vibe is no where to be found...
