European Pilsner malt offers sweetness balanced by a spicy hop profile. "Pau Hana" is a Hawaiian phrase meaning 'finished work'. This beer is perfect for when your day is over, ... and over...

Served from tap in a pint glass. Golden color, a bit hazy with moderate carbonation and light lacing. Aroma was pleasant, somewhat fruity. Taste had good depth and character, not overly bitter. Dryish finish that left a refreshing taste. Good beer.

If rated as a German-style Pilsner, it's a straight up 5-pointer. I would say it's close to the Northern German Pils type.
However, the internet insists it's a Bohemian Czech style brew. In which case it's barely a 4-pointer. Closer to 3 points in my book.
The official brewery website elusively describes Pau Hana as European.
Anyway, its bright gold straw color, crackery aroma and a crisp taste suggest it's more of a German-style type.
Not bad.

Picked up a loose can at the Foodland in Pupukea, North Shore. Felt a Pils would go well with the poke bowl and shrimp I picked up at the prepared foods section. Can’t beat the prices. This was a bit much for a single 12oz can but it’s pretty tasty. Nice malty grainy sweetness you expect from the style. Crisp and finishes clean. I’d drink it again, especially on tap.

Having this one from a can, poured into a bar glass, while on the islands.
Pours up a golden, slightly hazy color with little head and lacing. A medium/lighter bodied beer.
Nice malty and hops flavor, floral and a little citrus and bitterness, very enjoyable, crisp and refreshing.

i never really thought of these guys as a noteworthy lager maker, but after our recent trip to hawaii, i have a different opinion. i really liked this, but i also really liked their bikini blonde, which is not a blonde at all but a helles type, both exceptional, tight and refined, well carbonated and refreshing without being dumbed down, and i never expected beer made in hawaii to be quite so authentic to old world europe, but here we are. this thing is definitely built on european pils malt, crackery, white bready, earthy, dry but flavorful, fresh in my experience, the water chemistry and brewing process seem quite dialed in to flatter it, and its pretty hoppy too, noble type pep, mostly on the back end, some lingering bitterness, this isnt just a patio crusher, it has a lot of personality. its also got awesome carbonation and a light body so its also a patio crusher, but it satisfies the craft palate on a deeper level. some grassy spicy hops as it warms creeping up earlier and earlier, a little biscuit thing to the grain, trace lime zest and wet stone type minerality, a little bit of early sweetness is quickly resolved, and this is cohesive and easy while also being layered and polished. maybe slightly brassy as it warms but its not metallic really, i just prefer this one about as cold as you can get it. it was great to drink through a bunch of beers from these guys on our trip, i feel like some of these are a little less commonly available on the mainland, but would sell well if they were in wider distribution. this is real tasty, food versatile, and quite traditional overall.

For some reason I did not have the highest of hopes before my first sip but boy was I wrong.
Fantastic pilsner, really hammers home the lemon/grassy flavor notes the great pilsners put out. Bonus points for their relatively cheap price point compared to others. Highly recommended.

Lovey golden body, even head. Smell is slightly sour, floral hops, a hint of spice, and bready malt. Taste follows- floral hops become bread dough malt with a hint of pine. Simple. Feel is creamy but crisp. Refreshing, easy, delicious.

Pours clear, gold in color with one quarter inch head. Taste is pilsner malt and grass. Medium body, moderate light carbonation, slightly bitter. Makes for a solid refreshing pilsner. Glad I picked up a six.
