8oz glass from the leftovers of the Maui tap takeover at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square. Just in time for the Battle of Alberta CFL Western Final - go Esks!
This beer appears a hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with one skinny finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and mildly bubbly off-white head, which leaves some Confederation Bridge pattern lace around the glass as things slowly recede.
It smells of grainy and crackery pale malt, some blood orange and generic tropical fruitiness, tame musty yeast, and some understated leafy, weedy, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, a lesser crackery thing, muddled domestic citrus and plain exotic fruity notes, and more earthy, floral, and piney verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly aggressive in its swirling frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and more or less smooth, with just a touch of hop acridity maybe exacting a minor toll here. It finishes trending dry, the hops not ceding the waning malt much quarter.
Overall - this is one of the better versions of this bastard style that I have yet come across. It doesn't seem thin, or watered down, even though it is, in certain respects. Easy to drink, especially as a mid-point to this tap-run of mine here.

Straw color with white head that dedicates quickly. Aroma is very hoppy. Taste is a standard hoppy IPA without any bitterness. A little disappointing for Maii Brewing.
