really good red ales in hawaii i have recently discovered, and this one is delicious, more flavorful than most for sure, and pretty hoppy as they go, which is what makes it unique to me, even though its not quite in the red ipa space, not bitter enough and this remains pretty malt driven, great mix of flavors though, it stands out from the crowd. nice deep brick red to mahogany color, fast fading creamy off white head settles back to a thin ring around the edge and some patchy lacing. the aroma and flavor show kilned malt and this is drier than expected, especially for this richer color shade, must be some chocolate malt in here too, nice layering of the grains, dark toast but not roast, no bitterness from grain at all, subtle raisin and molasses but decidedly not that sweet, great earthy minerality, soft body, and faint nuttiness that keeps this grounded. the hops are waimea and and mosaic, which definitely give this some tropical appeal, slight cooked citrus, orange melon, and even lemongrass, also normal green like lawn grass too, and it must be all or mostly dry hopped, as the bitterness is very low for how hoppy it really is, which yields a smooth and long drink with a patient mellow finish, light cocoa at the end, a baked heartiness, almost volcanic minerality but it could be a mind trick being in hawaii and all. overall a distinctive and very well made amber type with a lot of personality and a clever and uncommon hop profile for the style. not too heavy for warm weather, nice work!

On tap.
Amber copper color. Khaki head. Lace. Was hoping this would be a bit more like the original furious, but it was a bit boring. Everything in a hoppy red, just subdued. Okay, but not great.

Nice beer that was difficult for me to find. Bright copper color with some mild head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells of malt, citrus zest and herbal hops. Tastes similarly, along with some caramel notes. Good amount of bitterness. Mild thin mouthfeel, good carbonation. A solid, if unremarkable, beer.

L: Slightly hazy reddish brown, small head, good amount of lacing.
S: Nice blend of sweet caramel malt, earthy & floral hop notes, and citrus & stonefruit notes.
T & F: Follows nose, sweet, lighter carbonation, nice easy bitterness.
O: Very nice red ale, quite a lot going on in the aroma and taste, more than I'm able to describe. Would certainly recommend.

This beer pours a reddish brown with a solid head. The aroma features sweet onion, sweet red malts, and earthy hops. The flavor is gentle and lovely, dominated by sweet red malts, with notes of fig, mint, sweet onion, caramel, and plum. The mouthfeel is medium rich with pleasant, creamy carbonation. Overall this is an excellent beer, with rich, sweet and simple flavors, that make a hell of an enjoyable beer.
