8oz glass from the leftovers of the Maui tap takeover at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square. Just in time for the Battle of Alberta CFL Western Final!
This beer appears a slightly hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with one skinny finger of puffy, finely foamy, and chunky eggshell white head, which leaves some decent bonsai forest lace around the glass as things slowly abate.
It smells of lightly toasted cereal malt, some apple and pear fruitiness, a hint of earthy yeast, and very subtle leafy, weedy, and herbal noble hop bitters. The taste is semi-sweet, doughy and bready caramel malt, a lesser cereal graininess, some indistinct grape candy sugar weirdness, fading estery yeast, and more understated leafy, musty, and floral green hoppiness.
The carbonation is quite tame in its banal-seeming frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, with nothing exactly sticking its nose out at this point. It finishes off-dry, with a singly complex malt character.
Overall - this is an approachable enough version of the style, perhaps a tad too sweet for this particular trainspotter (really, predictive text, you don't know that word?). My palate is certainly pining for something more balanced.

Had on tap at the brewpub in Waikiki.
Pours clear with minimal carbonation rising. Golden. No head.
Aroma is malts with some hints of flowers.
Taste is malt and some sweetness. Definitely malt is the star of this show.
Mouthfeel is lightly cleansing.
Overall, very drinkable. Sessionable. Quite nice.
