You don’t get more west-coast than Hawaii so what else should a Hawaiian-style IPA be? Brewed with Citra and Simcoe hops there’s a fruitiness that goes along with the bitterness for a crisp and dry session.
Pouring gold and with a mild hop haze, Pueo greets the nose with a floral, citrusy and spicy scent while its malt profile carries toasted honey and light bread sweetness onto the palate.
With the malt sweetness fading and the hops growing, the middle palate shows a quick transition to citrusy grapefruit and orange while showing a pep of bitterness. Juicy with mango, passionfruit and apricot, the ale still shows plumpness. Trending decidedly bitter, the late taste is sprucy, grassy and pleasantly herbal with notions of hemp.
Medium bodied and finishing malty-dry, the session is a welcomed crisp, clean and bitter IPA with a long after tow of herb and fruit zest.

This is not a pale ale. At 62 IBU and the apparently long cook time for the hops which is giving off some serious alpha acids, this should have been labeled an IPA. Very deceptive. My Pale Ale drinking buddy just let his beer go to waste because he thought he was going to get a legit Pale Ale experience and he just doesn’t do IPA’s.

A: The beer is relatively clear light yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a narrow ring of of white bubbles around the edge and some lacing down the sides.
S: Light to moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose - orange seems to stand out in particular.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of citrusy hops with a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels a bit more than light-bodied and slightly crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This pale ale is very sessionable and makes for a good one to knock off poolside.

Another beer from a BeerNV run after coming down the mountain after a ski session. Pours a familiar golden yellow color, slight chill haze, 1/2" white head. The aroma speaks to dry hopping more than most HI beers. Has mostly an orange aroma to it. Citra hops commercial tug job checks out.
The taste also confirms the Simcoe usage, it tends to bring its bitterness in the right amount, seems like around 60ibu here in this mouth feel. The orange gets weighed down with a bit of woody caramel in the mouth feel/taste departments. Maltier than its appearance I guess. Carbonation could have been a tick higher for better satisfaction.
Its one of the better beers I've had from the islands. Granted the bar is low, but you probably aren't there for the beer scene anyways. Haven't seen cans of this, I don't think Maui distributes out here anymore beyond kegs. Just haven't seen them in awhile.

Pours clear, gold in color with one half inch head. Taste is lychee and pale malt, twinge of pineapple. Light bodied, slightly bitter, with moderate carbonation. Nice and clean pale ale. Nice beach beer.
