A: Poured with a small, white head that disappeared to a fine lace quite quickly. Body is a dark amber color, and very clear.
S: Some sweet caramel aroma from the malt, with a light hop aroma that comes across as slightly piney, but I don't really detect the characteristic woody-hops for the style.
T: Pretty nice flavor, the caramel sweetness definitely comes through the most prominently; not overly sweet, but present, as it should be. The bitterness in the finish, however, is a little low... they list the IBU at 30, which is the lowest end of the style guidelines according to the BJCP, and it shows.
M: Medium-light bodied, with medium carbonation.
D: An easy-drinking beer, but a little disappointing. There aren't many California Commons out there, so I guess I was expecting a little more character with this one. It's still a good Common, just maybe a little on the 'light' end of the style.
