Got a chance to visit this brewpub last week. Woohoo!
Pours a deep dark brown. Just a thin crust, no head.
Smells, and tastes, very dissimilar to what I consider to be a"standard" ipa. Very earthy and the yeast is very noticeable, while the hops ... what hops there are ... are pretty muted. This beer left me very confused. I don't expect an IPA to be borderline smoky, and the earthy hops weren't balanced by any sort of pine or citrus that I might expect. It's a dark beer, but no real malt presence.
A bit thin. Strange.
