Maxs is of the habit of releasing fruited beers on Fridays. I visited on a Wednesday and discovered the Cherry Cream Stout still on tap (not to be confused with their Vanilla Cream Porter). Though the details of this beer are unknown to me, I found all intended properties accounted for in good mix and proportion, with a nicely stated cherry cream element that never lets you forget its wedded to a stout. I believe the stout is an oatmeal stout.
The beer is pure black with low suds and no head or lace. It has a smooth milk chocolate taste and a breathy chocolate finish. The cherry flavor is solid but not overbearing. Though this style has minimal personal resonance for me, I found it to be an enjoyable diversion from the standards. If you are looking for a cherry cream stout, this may be exactly what youre looking for.
