For me, the beers at Max's have been a little hit or miss, but this was one of the hits.

Color is pretty dark for a pils, amber hued with a moderate, fluffy white cap. Head lasted pretty well, leaving good lacing on the glass.

Aromas are nice and surprisingly hoppy. I like the spice and grass, with some smooth malt grain smells, and maybe just a bit of yeasty fruit.

Flavors are nicely balanced hops and malts, with the distinctive lager clean and dry finish. Lots of spice and grass again, bready malts. And I still detect a bit of sweet fruit in the flavor, too. I can't tell if it's a product of yeasts or a sweet, floral hop flavor. I really don't drink pilseners very often, so it's more difficult for me to completely describe everything.

Feel seems appropriate for the style, clean, refreshing. The finish lingers surprisingly long, but ends up dry and clean.

Very drinkable! I was a cheapskate late night and only drank one, but I was wishing I'd ordered another. Props to Max's for stepping out of the box and trying -- and succeeding -- at a style that NW brewers very rarely venture into. Bring on more good lagers!
