On tap at the brewpub today.
Pouring a deep amber/copper with a dense, off-white head with good retention and a little lacing, The nose is solid. The malt bill is solid, a blend of American and British varieties, lending a blend of biscuit, sweet toast, some caramel and buckwheat honey. The hop character is moderate, more fruity and floral than bitter. In this regard it does complement the malt character. On the palate, this opens with a sweet toffee/burnt sugar/butterscotch malt flavor along with some floral and citrus hop notes. The hop character is clean (no grassiness), and the bitterness is mild, low enough that it doesn't obscure the sweeter malt flavors (which is what this beer is about, IMO). With sweet flavors on the finish, this beer is medium-light in body and moderately carbonated. An easy drinking beer IMO.

Poured a deep murky copper hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured an earthy toasted malt and a light hop spice.
The taste was driven by the toastedalts with a mice streak of earthiness a d some soft cocoa.
The mouthfeel was a touch toward the thin side.
Overall a tasty red ale. I did not pick up
much dry hopping however.
