Poured from 500mL waxed bottle into my BeerAdvocate teku. This is part of North Fork's Electric Berryland series, brewed for their 25th anniversary. Wild ale aged on rhubarb and strawberries.
Appearance: rich pinkish-orange hue with a light haze and lots of effervescence. Head is three fingers of frothy, fizzy ivory foam; it is huge in size but subsides pretty quickly.
Smell: sweet, fruity aroma, with a bit of sourness and a rather candylike effect. I wouldn't necessarily have picked out rhubarb, but there's certainly strawberry in there. Pretty reminiscent of a fruit lambic -- I love it.
Taste: whoo, this is quite tart indeed. The kind of tart that starts to make you sweat! There's a nice level of sweetness here, with the fruit rounding out the flavor. It's really good, but be prepared for the sourness!
Mouthfeel: light and fluffy body; not really creamy, but I think that's because any and everything in this beer has been converted to lactic acid. But not bad, considering.
Overall: I like sours, and this is a very well done indeed. There's really no substitute for time - this undergoes 1-3 years of fermentation before re-fermenting on fruit, and no kettle sour can really compete with that. It's a delightful treat!
