Poured from 500mL waxed bottle into my BeerAdvocate teku. The brewer calls this a "Triple IPA or American barleywine".
Appearance: rich golden hue with a light haze and a mild effervescence. Head is three fingers of frothy ivory foam -- looking good.
Smell: very sweet malt with plenty of earthy, citrusy hops up front, followed by some more floral notes. This type of beer isn't usually my thing, but this isn't bad.
Taste: sweet like the aroma, with plenty of caramel flavor and a little bit of toast. Hops are much more floral in nature, yielding an almost soapy flavor (but in a good way) -- kind of like a really strong English bitter or certain floral American pale ales. Not bad.
Mouthfeel: plenty of body with a good carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: this is a tasty beer, that is growing on me. The sweetness is strong, yes, but so is the overall flavor profile, and the light, almost lavender-y floral character gives it a misleadingly mellow feel. It would be very easy to drink too much of this.
