The smell was a good start. The taste was great and lasting. The feel was smooth. I was very surprised by most of the beers this brewery had to offer. The food was also very good.

tap at the brewery
Pours a hazy banana gold. White head retains pretty well at about a quarter inch. Eventually dissipates to a lacing.
Smells of rich banana esters, wheat malt, and hints of citrus.
Flavor is of banana esters, wheaty malts, and a bit of coriander.
Light body with a sting of carbonation on the roof of the mouth.
A pretty solid example of the style and impressive from an American brewery, this nevertheless is just good but not great or exceptional. If you like hefes and you're at the brewery, you'll be pleased, but this won't be toppling any beers of a top 10 list of this style.

Served on-tap at Weeping Radish Eco Farm & Brewery in Grandy, NC
A: Pours a hazy deep golden yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of visible carbonation and some apricot + peach highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy head that slowly reduces to a very thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of banana + clove along with lighter notes of wheat and lemon.
T: Upfront there is a very light flavor of wheat along with a slightly more pronounced flavor of citrus/lemon. The dominant flavors in the beer are those of the banana + clove but even those are only light to moderately strong. Little to no bitterness.
M: Medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: I had this beer at the previous location and I remember it being much better than what I had today - the color seemed off as the beer was much darker than others in the style and I remember it. Also, the head was not quite what I expected either. Easy to drink but just not a good enough offering in a style where there are so many that are excellent.

This brewery is just off of the Outer Banks of NC (OBX), and I had one bottle bought from the brewery and drunk at the OBX the next day. Excellent! Probably doesn't travel well, since all their brews are made using the German "Reinheitsgebot" which prohibits preservatives & makes it bad to ship more than a certain radius around the brewery.
