Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a medium to dark orange amber with thin, light khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, dates, dried plums and light molasses. Flavor is dry caramel malt, dates, figs, dried plums, vanilla and raisins, a bit boozy and with a light hop kick to the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess and sharp carbonation. It's been a white since I've had Oakshire's barleywine and probably the first time relatively fresh, but this seems to have the same profile as the 2013 one, but a bit more alcohol kick from the big ABV. Nice caramel and dried fruit notes. I hope there are still bottles of this around because I think this will age quite nicely and probably needs a little time in the cellar to mitigate the booziness. A fine barleywine of the English persuasion.
