Man, what happened to your graphic designer Oakshire? Horizontal lines and some generic fonts, RIP.
Pours two fingers of pillowy, fluffy tan head into my nonic. Retention is exceptional, and only a little slump is noticeable after a few minutes. Initial lacing looks decent. Body is dark brown, nearly black, with hues of mahogany when held up to the light, which also shows a lot of bubbles coming up. Looks really nice so far.
Nose is mineral, roast, a hint of bread. Faint signs of coffee and bitter chocolate. Smells super clean with a nice roast character.
Flavor is wonderful, and it comes through fuller than the nose. A sessionalby roasty palate from beginning to end. Touch of chocolate. Not too mineral forward, but very clean. Straight forward, flavorful, well balanced.
Mouthfeel is impressive as well. Carbonation is a little above medium. Body is on the lighter side but has fullness. Bitterness is noticeable but blends in well and is not inappropriate, malt surely contributes to the bitterness here. Crazy balanced, just a touch of sweetness to balance the bitter and dry nature of the beer. Super nice mouthfeel.
Drinkability is phenomenal. It has a lot of flavor, drinks pretty light, and is super clean.
Appearance turned out quite nice. Lacing was a little lazy, but pretty nice for the most part. Head dissipated eventually but was pretty sturdy.
Overall a very impressive beer. Easy drinking, clean, balanced, flavorful.
