On tap at Saraveza PDX 2.18.10 poured into a Hamm's (!) chalice.

One finger white head, tiny bubbles, medium dissipation. Dark brown clear body. The smell is very peaty, smoke from cherrywood smoked malt. Taste is tres peaty, but balanced with caramel malt, a little bit of cherry but not much. faint odor of flowery hops, leading to a dry finish. Smooth mouthfeel with lingering smokiness. Not very drinkable, certainly not for the faint of heart (a lady patron took one whiff and declared "oh, an ashtray beer') but one of the better interpretations of this difficult to get right style. Worth seeking out for Scotch ale fans, especially those who like their beer smoky.
