Single Batch Beer - released Fall 2010

"This Dopplebock is a mahogany colored lager with a deep fresh baked bread aroma. The sweet malty middle, with notes of ripe fruit and mild chocolate, is balanced by a touch of herbal German hops. With an elevated alcohol level peeking its head out near the clean finish, this hearty lager should warm up many damp and chilly nights. 7.7% abv."

I'm surprised there is only one other rating for this here. Smooth caramel color, great smell of dark citrus. I'm not much for doppel bock but this one tastes better than most I've had. Very good beer.

It appears a dark reddish color with a nice look light tan head on it.

It smells of toffee, chocolate, slightly raison like. This is a pretty sweet smelling beer but the smell is not overbearingly sweet.

It tastes initially of sweet citrus fruit; there is a subdued raison taste, a caramel and toffee like taste as well. The citrus flavor is good there is a nice mellow sweet orange flavor. There is a nice nutty malty flavor that balances out the sweet malt flavor slightly. This is a semi-sweet beer but it is not overwhelming.

There is a medium amount of carbonation.

The drinkability for this style is better then average.

Overall this is not my flavor style of beer but this was a very good beer. Worth getting if you can find it.
