Served on draught at Eschenbräu, into an Eschenbräu stein. Reviewed from notes taken on June 2nd, 2011.

A: Two finger head of slight cream, good thickness, and brilliant retention. Appealing. Pils yellow colour.

Sm: Yeasty, off-hoppy unfiltered scent. Borders on sour. A light strength scent, but a pleasant one.

T: Light cream, sour subtle notes over top an unfiltered, more complex barley body. Some lemon esters and maybe some grapefruit. Moderate strength taste. Refreshing feel is replaced by the sour yeasty notes on the climax. Well built and balanced, but a bit too estery for a pilsner. I do like the bold approach, however. A microbrewery ought to experiment.

Mf: Nicely coarse and wet. Sits the pilsner twist of the flavour.

Dr: Easily downable, but not a special beer, especially for a brewpub. Affordable by German standards, but not cheap.

A: Half finger head, lots of lacing, cloudy, bright yellow/orange. Nice color, little head, zero visible rising carbonation.
S: Yeasty, refreshing, oranges and cream. Very unpilsner like.
T&M: Quite bitter on the end and after taste. On the heavier side of pilsners, full bodied, but there's a refreshing lightness to it. A tinge sweet, apple, a bit creamy yeast, which is nice but unusual for a pilsner. Crisp carbonation, otherwise soft. Similar to the Alt Berliner Dunkel.
O: Very nice take on the Pils.

Side note: This is one of my first times drinking at a brew pub and maybe the fact that it's "direct" makes the flavor much better? These beers have been surprisingly great.

Pils with light blond and cloudy colour, with a foam does not match (the bubbles are too big) and very compact. Does not show very well.
Fortunately the appearance is the only sore point. It takes a very sharp smell fresh hops, nice and grassy that fills your lungs fully. At the smell, you can feel a hop flavour that makes it very bitter (but not particularly dry). Clean, fresh and pleasant, well balanced (the sweetness is only in the background.) The bitterness and the freshness remains in the mouth for a considerable time, making you want a next sip. Definitely one of the best Pils we met in Berlin.
