Hand bottled 12 oz. bottle that has a homemade white label of a wheat field. On the sides of the label is where the keep the address of the brewery (North Ridgeville), ABV of 4.5%, a brief description, and the Government warning. I bought this at a beer store in the Ridegeville area.
Appearance: I poured it into an American pint glass. This Lager was a hazy and bubbly lemon yellow color. It had a self rising creamy head of white foam. The head of foam never left. Through the entire beer's life, it looked like there was a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of the beer.
Smell: It had a strong pepper based aroma to it. It smelled like someone went crazy with the pepper shaker with this one. Once I was able to get pass the pepper, I found that there was some lemon peel, toasted malts, and some dried citrus hops in the background.
Taste: The taste started off sour with some toasted malts, a drop of lemon, and a few wheat stalks. That explains the picture on the label. After the sourness had faded (Good!), in comes some crispy citrus hops. I'm still trying to figure out how the taste went from sour to crispy. At least I can say that it wasn't all sour. Those crispy hops saved this beer a little bit.
Mouthfeel: It was a light bodied beer with a light sour and crispy aftertaste of wheat and citrus hops. Huh? Now the sourness of the wheat and crispyness of the citrus hops have settled their differences. Why? They should have stayed enemies, like they were in the taste!
Drinkability: It was an odd little Lager that had it ups and downs. After the appearance, it was nothing but downhill for this beer. It didn't end on a positive either. There is no way sourness and crispyness should become friends. Hopefully their draft version isn't as sour as their bottled version.
