Served in a small goblet. Deep amber color, slightly cloudy. Very nice American (and maybe English too) hop aroma, though malt and alcohol are also evident. This tastes incredible! Fills the mouth with hops, malt and alcohol. Feels like a super rich dessert. Fairly balanced despite the heavy hopping (i.e. a LOT of everything in this brew). Extremely drinkable - servers should warn people of the high ABV.

A really killer DIPA. Pours a deep amber color with a nice head, Smells of HOPS, tons of hops... pine, citrus, floral. Tastes grapefruity, piney, a bit earthy, some malts up front, but completely hop dominated as a DIPA should be. A bit of alcolol up front and in the finish but not like you might expect for the abv. This is a total hop bomb and it's probably one of the best DIPA's I've ever tasted. The hops (not the alch) threaten to rip out your tongue with every sip, exactly what I was looking for. Try this if you happen to ever get the chance. Nice job Shaun.

A: The ale is an auburn color that is golden with orange hints. The head is thick.

S: The ale has a sharp citrus bite that is big and explosive.

T: The ale’s hop profile is big, giving a crisp, biting grapefruit taste. The malts don’t do a lot here, but the hops are strong enough to make up for that.

M: The ale has a sharp biting taste that sometimes is too strong.

D: A good beer, this is worth trying for the strong hop presence.

Thanks to Weeare138 for this sample (via a trade with the Brewer).

Poured a deeper amber color with a small sized off white head. Some lacing left on the glass.

Aromas of citrus, caramel and pine.

Tastes of caramel, pine, with a citrus/grapefruit finish.

Nice balance. Wow, 10.5%, just noticed that and would have never guessed it.

Poured an amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, tobacco, floral hops, caramel malts, and citrus fruits. Taste of caramel malts, pine, citrus fruits, more tobacco, with a bitter, dry, grapefruit finsh. None of the alcohol in this triple IPA was detected.

Much thanks to grassrootsvt for this growler of hoppy nectar...
Appears a dense, glowing amber with a fluffy 2 finger off-white head that slowly fades out into a gentle floating cap. Small amounts of CO2 rise to the top. Tons of scattered lace is left around the glass.
Smell is of huge amounts of resinous pine sap, rich sugary orange, and grapefruit. This is a hop-head's heaven.
Taste is rich, sweet caramelized malt with toffee notes and huge, huge amounts of sap-like hop presence. This is even more hoppy than Spawn of Oliver, and Darkside. An insanenly estimated 215 IBU's. Wow!
Mouthfeel is rich, sugary, bitter, chewy, and full bodied. Very extreme, and a bold newcomer for Double IPA's. I would actually tag this one under the "Triple IPA" monicker that has been growing ever popular in the U.S. as of late. This one could go against the big boys any day of the week. The ABV is there but this is what this one is all about...big, ballsy, and BOLD! This hoppy mutant is uncanny. (The X-Men reference was unintentional but while we're on the comic book references...). When I heard that this one was going to be called Hell Spawn, I immediately thought of the obvious connection...The Shed brewer made a deal with Malebolgia to create this Spawn, ahem, Hell Spawn. This one is a war general that will lead armies of hops instead of demons, across your palate. Very complex and intense brew. Wait to see what kind of dreams you have after drinking this one!
Shaun E. Hill has proven thus far that he's one of the premier brewers on the East Coast. Seek The Shed!
