V: A pretty typical brewpub kind of place. Not pretentious, very casual and laid back. A well-kept, clean place that attracts a variety of clientele (it is a beach town restaurant after all).

Q: A fair amount of quality with the beer in this place. Most of the focus is on the house brews, as expected. Nothing to knock your socks off, but respectable.

S: We had an attentive and prompt server. I didn't quiz her on any of the beers, so that wasn't an issue. Overall, very solid.

S: Quigley's had a pretty standard selection of beers: Brown, IPA, stout, lager, and an amber. I had the IPA (which was OK). A likeable, but not spectacular selection.

F: The food was very good and straightforward. I had a burger (which was huge) and fries. Tasty and well made.

I am lucky enough to live about a mile or 2 away from Quigleys. The food is simply outstanding almost on every occasion. The staff is well trained and is very prompt. The Beers are pretty good too. They usually offer the Swampfox IPA, a Lager, a Nut Brown, and Specialities and Seasonals. Overall it is a well run consistently good place to go when in Pawleys Island, SC

stopped in to get some $5 growler fills. Nice clean well lit joint, friendly & helpful staff. Had a flight of available brews, a pint and the little neck clams poached in wheat beer. Excellent clams, just a tad salty but not overly, Will deffinatley return, on wed. particularly for growler fills.

A nice place, as you walk in you can walk straight ahead to a bar area or be seated in the restaurant side to the right. The bar area had a nice size bar with seats around it and the restaurant had a wide open feel to it. The place was relaxed and very clean. The quality of the beer and place was very good, one of the beers the shake down wheat was iffy but everything else was good to very good. The service was on time and attentive. She knew some about the beers but wasn't a wealth of knowledge. The selection was of 8 beers on tap, unfortunately one was out when I was there but it was still enough to keep me interested. The food was very good I was with a group of 7 and every one really liked their food, and it was very resonably priced. Overall this is a very solid place, I plan to make it a yearly destination.

Pleasantly surprised by this brewpub. I had a few nights of average food in Pawley's Island so happy to find this. I sampled all of the beers on tap - IPA, IPA with nitro, White, Red, Nut Brown and Angel's Share. It was a difficult choice as I enjoyed them all, but went with the Neck Red which I paired with blackened mahi fish tacos. Both were excellent. My wife enjoyed the Patty Melt - like a grilled cheese with hamburger, it worked well.

I had the Angel's Share after dinner - really impressed with this BA stout. Too bad I couldn't take any growlers to go.

Prices very reasonable as well - $40 including tip for the 2 of us. Will definitely return when I'm in the area.

This is my first review of an establishment and my first bar upon turning 21 kind of fitting. Situated in a newer development off of Pawley's Island with a man-made lake in the back included with gators. The look of the restaurant is new despite being a few years old without being pretentious about itself. From the get go the staff was fantastic and quick to notice that it was my first time there and were quick to answer all my questions about the food and the beer. I had their Angels Share which is matured in Woodford Reserve barrels so it had a little of that bourbon bite which I love, and it went surprisingly well with the wings with their "Damn Hot" sauce only problem with that is that it could have used more sauce as I am a hot sauce guy, next time I go I will ask. They had a few other beers on tap: Peach Wheat, Swamp Fox IPA, Shakedown Wheat, Neck Red, a lager whose name escapes me. I had the Peach Wheat in my growler for $5 (Wednesday special). All in all Quigley's is my kind of place. Can't wait to go back.

Sandy and I were in town for three days recently, and came here EVERY DAY. It's that good!

The food is excellent. Highlights for us were the maple-buttered bread, pasta dishes, house salads with hot bacon/honey mustard dressing, and - most of all - the french fries with gravy.

I had to speak with the owner/brewer to compliment him on this place, and he was generous with his time. His name is Josh Quigley, and he trained at the ABG in Davis, CA. All of his beers are ENTIRELY without technical flaws, something I can not say for any brewpub I've sampled in SC, GA, or FL.

I drank the following beers:

Lager - flawless, clear (unfiltered!), balanced, no DMS, no Diacetyl, no sulphur.

Peach Wheat - fresh peach aroma and flavor (made from real aseptic peaches, not artificial flavors) layered over a solid American wheat beer. I'm not a fruit beer fan, but I did take a growler home of this one.

Brown - the best beer on tap here. Three way balance between residual sweetness, roasty tannins, and refined hop bite. I read another review that called this beer "thin" - I was astounded! It actually has quite a thick mouthfeel, thanks to a low-attenuating English yeast strain and - according to the brewer - Cara-Pils in the grist. I took a growler of this.

IPA - Excellent beer - I actually had no idea it was 7% ABV. The brewer is a bit frustrated that some drinkers don't know the difference between an American IPA and an English IPA. This one is a very fine example of an English IPA, so balance and refinement are the key characteristics. The yeast is far less fruity than most English ale yeasts, which allowed the malt to come through more cleanly. First Gold hops are primary, according to the brewer, which her described as a cross between EKG and Cascade, but which struck my palate as Noble Hops, maybe Fuggles. I took a growler of this one.

Pumpkin - nicely spiced beer, and clean.

Stout - Slick and oily mouthfeel, oaty/creamy flavor component, served on nitro, highly drinkable.

I didn't sample the Hefe, becuase I'm not a fan of that style.

The Red was not on tap when I went.

On prices: There are always ridiculous specials going on here. Wednesdays you get a growler fill for $5. Happy hour gets $2 pints. There are constantly $10 specials which include salad, entree, and appetizer. The prices are too low for what you get.

On service: The wait staff was excellent. I liked that my waiter immediately sensed I was a beer nerd and didn't talk down to me.

One criticism: My growlers didn't hold freshness well. I took them 10 minutes up the road to my fridge, and drank them 6 hours later, but still there was a noticeable drop in quality. Maybe counter-pressure fill? Train bartenders better? At least evacuate the growler with CO2, then bottom fill with a tube?

I would rate this place as a must visit if you are anywhere near here. The rest of the shopping center has a nice coffee shop, a bakery, and a pond with alligators. Sandy and I will be back next December, for sure!

Stopped in here with friends in the September of twenty-ten after an Island wedding. Needed some sustenance for the road. I'd been before, in 2008, but this place has turned the corner and is now quite good.

Quigley's is just... competent. The bar itself is no-nonsense, just a bunch of TVs, clean, well-lit, with a smoking section (boo!) and an outdoor patio overlooking an inlet. Great place to watch the sun go down. Service is attentive, quick, and friendly. You may just run into Josh Quigley himself - he's the lean gray haired dude running every which way.

The beer? A Nut-Brown, a Pale, an IPA, a nitro'd Irish Dry, a Marzen, an Wheat and a Peach Wheat were all on this time. The Peach Wheat, is, I must say, suspiciously akin to RJ Rocker's Son of a Peach (this is a good thing). All the beers are clean, simple, fresh and tasty. The Marzen was my favorite.

... And all these beers were $2. For an Imperial Pint. No lie. My krewe was there on a Saturday, and when I asked for a 4oz sample of brew, the waitress said "Ok, but pints are two dollars today, it's football season."

Okay.... this is puzzling. But $8 worth of beer later, I didn't really feel like questioning it. The $2 deal is not every day, but if you luck out, God has surely smiled upon you.

The food portions are unusually large, they have S'mores (delish) and the gravies... ahh, the gravies. Get the fries and gravies. Really. Burgers are good, nachos are good... yeah, I can dig it. Reasonable prices on food, quickly served.

Quigley's is the real deal... one of those out-of-the-way joints that you really don't expect much from but is solid through and through. Recommended, and HIGHLY recommended if you're on Pawley's Island - it's the only game in town.

Stopped in with a group of fellow golf vacationers and was a relatively quick visit. I only had one beer variety, the Swamp Fox IPA which was good enough to forego trying another variety like I usually do and opt for a second pint of the same (very rare for me but it hit the spot). It's a clean little place, simple but appealing in a quiet way. There's a smallish bar area with some tables available nearby and then there's a somewhat larger eating area as well as a patio spot. Our server was friendly and prompt and they gave us a good deal on Happy Hour prices so the tab was very reasonable for our large group (greatly appreciated). It didn't strike me as a particularly fun place to go but it was pleasant and comfortable. The appetizers we got were better than average. Other guys in my group tried other beer varieties and most everyone was content, but as I said, I think the IPA was probably their best offering from what I could surmise. Friendly place that I would be very happy to revisit but I would have liked to see a little more variety in their brew choices. Looked a bit wimpy if you're a big beer lover. Thankfully their IPA was very good and warranted a growler for the condo that night (equally delicious). I recommend the place if you're looking to drink IPA (or lighter brews) and are content with a friendly place to talk with your friends.

I decided to call for directions as we headed south on US17 and it turned out to be a good idea. It was back in a complex overlooking a central lake.

Entering, the m.d.s. was slightly to the left and it was manned by the owner/brewer! His small (7 barrel) brewhouse was right behind him with several FVs also visible and the SVs in a chill box behind the bar. There was a short passageway to the right of the entry with the small restaurant area just beyond to the right and the "U" shaped, clear varnished tiger-wood bar was on the left. A patio deck overlooking the lake was opened onto by a door in the center at the back wall. Josh Quigley was one of the more enthusiastic people that I had encountered lately. A late lunch (1500) consisted of Shrimp 'n' grits. If you're in the south and you ain't eating S & G, you're missin' out, sonny buddy. Live music a couple/few times a week; color chalkboards for "Music", "Specials", and available beers.

Beers: Longboard Lager; Shake Down Wheat; Peach Wheat; Neck Red Ale; Swamp Fox IPA; Nut Brown Ale.

This place is a bit hard to find but it is worth the search among the numerous stores and shops in the complex off Willbrook Blvd. The place is not very big, but it has a light colored wooden vibe that is comfortable and inviting. The bar area is small as there is only about 8 stools along a straightline bar.

There were 7 beers on during my visit - Neck Red, Swamp Fox IPA, Spring Pilsner, Nut Brown Ale, Peach Wheat Ale, Longboard Lager, Shakedown Wheat, and a New South White Ale. The Spring Pilsner and Swamp Fox IPA were great tasting, well balanced and refreshing. The Nut Brown and Wheat were also of good quality.

The food was very good as the sandwiches and salads are big and made with quality ingredients. The bartender was was friendly and quick to serve.

This place is a must stop for those like myself who were golfing on Pawley's Island and want a good beer after the round. For those looking for big beers this is not your place - but for those that enjoy beers that are of high quality, well balanced, and alcohol levels are in check with the style this place is for you. For those just hanging in Myrtle Beach or Murrells Inlet, take the drive here you won't be disappointed.

Just got back from Myrtle Beach and spent quite a bit of time at Quigley's. Went there for lunch, ordered the IPA and was told it wouldn't be available til later that day. Went back later and wasn't disappointed. If you like a great beer, you have to go by and try their Swamp Fox IPA. Awesome beer and I would not be afraid to to compare it to Stone IPA. I got 2 growlers of it to bring home, one is gone already, got to figure out how to get more. Food was good and service was great!! Will definitely be back this time next year for the Swamp Fox !! Went there during Bike Week. Liberty beers are not waht they used to be and this place is why....the former brewer at Liberty is the new owner of this place. We went on a Thursday afternoon so it wasnt busy since the golf links were packed. Nut Brown was great.
I think we will add this to our beer stops for bike week for sure.
BA may want to consider not making me write so dam much about a place Ive been to only once. Now I remember why I stick to pubcrawler to do my reviews.

Went for lunch. a Pub Burger, chicken nachos, a kid's chicken finger plate and a salad cost $37 with tax. Value was pretty good. The burger was ground sirloin cooked exactly to order. The nachos were so huge, my wife finished half and it idn't look as though she made a dent in them. They do not have a beer menu describing the on tap offerings which I though was pretty strange for a brewpub. Growlers to go were also available and a small discount for refills on growlers. i would go here again for eats and drinks. Good Place!

This place is great. The Pawley's / Litchfield area so needed a place like this. The beer is good. Not mind-blowing, but definitely above par. And they do seem to change one or two of the selections somewhat frequently.

THE FOOD IS OUTSTANDING! I had the Mingo Burger which was cooked the way I ordered it (which is getting harder and harder to find these days), medium-rare. And it had a fried egg on top. Man, that was tasty. The fries were quality, too.

Atmosphere was pretty decent. Still had a "newish" sheen to it, but I am sure it will become seasoned in a year more or so.

Overall, high marks.

We recently had the pleasure to check out this somewhat newish brewpub just off Highway 17 in Pawley’s Island. I like the way that it sits back in the new Mingo Shopping Center, back away from the highway. You’d never know it was there unless you were looking for it. Interior atmosphere for the most part is still kind of plain and lacking but I’ll chalk that up to the place still getting broken in. It actually has a pretty nice atmosphere off the back deck, where they have some comfy looking couches set up and you can overlook the manmade lake in the back (complete with a fountain). Brewing equipment can be seen through the front window, just in case you didn’t believe that they actually brew here.

We took a seat at the bar and examined our beer choices on the board. Six selections on tap, including the Longboard Lager, Shakedown Wheat, Peach Wheat, Swamp Fox IPA, Nut Brown Ale and a newly tapped house Porter. They also had a Neck Red Ale fermenting in the tanks. Our friendly bartender informed us that they do not yet offer a sampler but do sell 8oz half pints for $2 (regular 16oz pints were $4, pretty good!). I’m not that big into asking for small samples (plus I like a little more than a couple of ounces to get a handle on a beer) so this worked perfectly. We tried the IPA, Peach Wheat, and Porter and thought they were all nicely crafted brews. We didn’t try any food on this visit, as we had already eaten, but we’ll definitely try some next time (I’ve got my eye on that Mingo burger).

I was excited when I heard that there was a new craft beer alternative on the Grand Strand during our visits to the area and after checking it out, we were pleasantly surprised to see that it exceeded our expectations. We most definitely look forward to returning and seeing how Quigley’s develops in the future.

I was visiting some family down in Pawleys and heard about this place online so I gave it a try. The first impression was a good one, the staff was friendly and courteous and they had 7-8 beers on tap. I tried the Swamp Fox IPA first. It was a pretty solid beer but nothing terribly special. After that I tried the Festive Ale which was just a spiced brown ale.

We had a few appetizers which were good, but again nothing spectacular. The atmosphere is decent but pretty indistinguishable from a normal sports bar. They carry beers besides their own but I'm not sure why since the lineup was all bud and miller type beers.

If you are in Pawleys or Myrtle I think this is the only brewpub so give it a try. I'll visit again if I'm in town.

I'll admit right from the start that I'm a bit biased about Quigley's - it's the closest thing that I have to a 'home pub.' We in the Grand Strand area don't have a lot of places to get great beer, and so we really value the ones that we've got. It's about 15 miles away from me, but luckily it's on my way home from work!

Quigley's is in Pawley's Island, south of the main tourist areas, and its clientele skews a bit older than the normal beach crowd. No complaints from me there - this makes the atmosphere much more like a real British pub than others in the area. The staff is very friendly and good at what they do - so far there doesn't seem to be a lot of turnover. The atmosphere is extrememly warm and welcoming.

I generally head straight into the bar area when I arrive - there's lots of tables and a great happy hour menu, including the obligatory wings, nuggets and pretzels, but also things like hummus dip and a lowcoutry boil. I cannot comment as much on the dinner menu, so I'll let others do that. Smoking is still allowed in SC bars, but it's never been obnoxious. There are several TVs perched up high, but with the sound off. I generally drop in a couple of times a week on my way home, and take advantage of the $2 pints at happy hour.

That, of course, brings us to the beer. When they first opened, they had mostly beer from Josh Quigley's previous venture, New South Brewing, but soon transitioned over to their own brews. Staples include the Swamp Fox IPA, the Shakedown Wheat, the Waccamaw Neck Red and the Nut Brown Ale. Seasonals have included a Bock, the Gaelic Red Ale, the Black River Stout, a Porter, and a Peach Wheat (which seems to be staying on for a while). Currently my favorite Brown Ale has been replaced by a Festive Ale, which is based on the Brown but with added spices for the Winter holidays. I cannot claim to be an expert at tastings, but all the styles seem to be very well done representations of the traditional styles.

In conclusion, Quigley's is a great addition to the Pawley's Island area. It's got great beer to go along with a good happy hour menu, and an exceptional atmosphere.

We stopped here after I did some homework and found this relatively new brewpub only 10 minutes from where we were staying.
The atmosphere is outstanding in this tucked away, somewhat remote location, which is hidden from the other tourist traps...I think that's what they were hoping for. Upon entering the new building, there are brew tanks and fermenters to the left. The low-lit bar gives near perfect ambiance with some outside light shining through from the deck overlooking the man-made lake. Speaking of which...we headed outside for this little slice of paradise and we grabbed the two plush sofas located to the left. This was precisely what we were looking for.
The quality of the beers was certainly in check. Everything was spotless and fresh. The one thing I will say is that the appearance of all the beers were consistant. In fact, they all had roughly the same level of big, streamy, force carbonated bubbles rising to the top.
The service was pretty good. Waiter was extremely friendly, and was even knowledgable about both the beer styles and yeasts when I quickly quized him. Well done!
The selection was decent. Slightly different than the run of the mill brewpub that seems to be in the area with standards on draft. When the waiter said, "Peach Wheat", it wasn't something that I had seen in the area before. Always a good sign to see someone trying something different...now if only I can talk them into doing an Abbey Dubbel, DIPA, or a Bavarian Weizenbock, we'll be money and that selection score will be going up!
According to owner/brewer Josh, they operate a 7 bbl system. They should easily be able to handle 4-5 standards, while having 2 seasonals on. The ramp up seasonals seemed to be the American Wheat, and the Peach Wheat. Not bad choices for the summer. Maybe next time, I can see a Farmhouse Saison on, or something even better(ala Belgian Gold Ale) to set themselves apart even more.
Oh...the best part was the $2 pints during happy hour. Try beating that.

Stopped by during happy hour while vacationing at Litchfield Beach. Located in a new shopping center behind the Piggly Wiggly right across from the entrance to Litchfield By The Sea. Tried the wheat and peach wheat. Both were very good but the peach wheat was a bit overdone. Looks like they have a pretty good after work crowd. The bartender said they have been open for about 3 months. Did not try any of the food, but it did look appetizing. I plan on stopping by again next time I am in the area.
They have happy hour every day with $2 pints from 4-7. On Wednesdays you can get $5 growler refills ($9 if you need a growler). How good is that!

Returned to Quigley's for happy hour on a later trip to Litchfield Beach. Shared some nachos with my party of four. The four of us could not finish them and for $6.50 they were a bargain. Had the Swamp Fox IPA regular and nitro. The nitro version had a much creamier head. Can't wait to get back down there again!

Went for a late lunch after golf with my wife. Very friendly waiter; he told us that the guy who owns New South Brewing (in Myrtle Beach) owns this pub. Very bright and cheery decor, and nice and cool temp! Wings were excellent, meaty and hot the way we like them.
All the beer is a private label from New South, on tap. I had their IPA and my wife had a Bock. I thought the IPA was fair at best, not even as good as Harpoon. I don't personally like Bocks I have bought in Mass., not really being into the Malty taste, but the Bock tasted more bitter than my IPA; wierd. In all, I think they had 5 or 6 beers on draft.
It is located in a strip mall built around a man-made lake. The plaza has the restaurant Bummz in the front. It is on Willbrook Blvd., right across from the Litchfield Resort on Rt. 17 in Litchfield/Pawleys Island. It is directly behind the Piggly Wiggly plaza which is on 17, southbound side.
I would go again, only because there is almost no other good beer location in the area, but as that changes, hopefully New South will become more bold with their brews.

We didn't eat this time but from what we could see and smell, we are looking forward to having a meal here. Some of the menu items like the Shrimp and Grits Rolls looked very interesting. They are still getting some of their beers on tap but we tasted several including a very unique Peach Brew that was not too sweet but very peachy. The brown ale was excellent. I'm looking foward to seeing if they get some high gravity on tap soon.
