This is a beer for settling in. Hunkering down. Sitting by a fire. Reading a book. Picking on some tunes. Conversing with good company around said fire. Sipping. Savoring. Candied apples, a blanket of stone fruit, fig, and dark honey carry from the nose. Brandy and sherry make their way forward in the mouth, and the warmth that follows is intoxicating. Gather some good folks and share. 11.8% ABV, 83 IBU

Alcohol is well hidden. Deliciously integrated malt flavours. Orange flavours appear as the beer warms. World class.

Had one of these on tap during my first visit to DM brewery. The sourness that I prepared myself for in a barley wine was non existent. The subtle grapefruit and sweet citrus flavors were there instead and a light hop profile emerged, a slight but pleasant bitterness came with it. Overall the smoothest beer of this style I've ever tried. Wasn't planning on it but I had another because it was that delicious. Have been looking for it at local shops but can't seem to track it down, they must not be bottling this gem yet, too bad because brewery is 4 hour plus drive for me.
