a delicious rice lager brewed for a restaurant in portland by the same name apparently. its a lovely beer, drinkable and light as can be, but not at all boring either. its not quite perfectly clear, but still has a heck of a shine to its golden body beneath an inch of rising white foam. aroma is lightly floral, perhaps a jasmine element from the rice coming through, maybe its a soft hop aromatic, but its immediately more interesting than most pils types, even though there is obviously some crackery light pils malt in the mash here. the beer is delicate, and the rice keeps it really light, more a texture than a flavor thing, but its contribution to the whole is obvious. i like the hop profile here too, somewhat more robust than is common in the style, which is to say it can be appreciated even a little bit, light lime and cut flowers to it, hardly any bitterness. this is meant to be refreshing, palate cleansing, and out of the way of food, and even having it without anything to it, i think its clear they hit their mark. a really good lager, clean and drinkable and actually rather nuanced. further proof that double mountain does just about everything well!
