Bottle offering, I'm not the biggest fan of golden stouts but I like trying coffee beers. This one pours a beautiful glowing gold with a small cap of white lacing, minimal haze. Sweetness and coffee are definitely apparent, not real roast component to hold the beer together (expected with a blonde stout) - notes of vanilla and graham cracker as well...the body is a bit thin but it drinks pretty smooth overall.

im a huge fan of double mountain and was stoked for this oddity they call a blonde coffee stout, but it stands as maybe the first beer ive ever had from that i didnt really like, i found it a bit of a mess, not what i usually expect from these guys. on tap it pours murky and hazy and dense looking, blonde sure, but not light, just a short patchy head on top after a minute. the nose is solid, a not super fresh but obvious coffee profile with some fruity raisin type character to it, not insanely roasty and bitter which is cool, make it more modern that way, light smoke curling, some dry cocoa adding depth and richness, and a lot of sweet malt, almost wheaty, hefty anyway, light vanilla frosting too, sweet, as i guess i should have gathered from the name, i get light hazelnut or something too, like a starbucks drink. the flavor is similar, a little staleness to the coffee, but again low bitterness and roast, more chocolate character, lots of it, not really stouty at all to me, more of just a messy blonde. a waft of vanilla accentuates the chocolate, some brown sugar, amaretto, and generic maltiness. the coffee has some linger, riding the sweetness, there could be some lactose in this. overall its not a bad mix of flavors, but its not a well refined beer, and even with some carbonation the feel is heavy for what it is, and its just not as dialed as i am used to from double mountain. coffee freshness is suspect too, and there is a husky hully grain finish. overall not my favorite, and i think i am finally ready for this golden stout category to go to sleep and never wake up...
