Poured from a 500ml standard pressure-cap bottle into a tulip glass in high elevation Kalispell, Mont. Reviewed live.

A- Three-finger cream-colored head on a reddish-orange body. Retention lasts about a minute. Not super impressive, but otherwise a fine looking brew.

S- Active yeast character, caramel malts and some bitter hops.

T- Smooth flavor with a strong yeast character. Surprisingly plain. Nothing much else here.

M- Smooth and kind of thick. Finishes dry.

O- Disappointed. This beer started well but just didn't have a lot going for it.

Poured into my large Gulden Draak tulip, Red War is clear, bright and brassy amber, with a white head leaving scattered lace.

Smell is sweet candied malt, fruity esters, and some spice, light phenols.

Taste is also estery, more spicy, but the sweetness of the malt balances it nicely. There a banana bread quality to this that is quite pleasant, with, say, a grand marnier reduction.

Mouthfeel is dry, medium-light bodied.

Drinkability is pretty high, it's another clean, bright, estery Belgian style from this Double Mt. series. Perhaps my favorite yet, loads of character.
