Poured into my large Gulden Draak tulip, Black Famine is dark brown with an off-white head leaving light, scattered lace.

Smell is sweet, dark candied stone fruits, a little spicy, clean ethanol.

Taste follows with fruit and spice, phenolic, and an odd for the style chocolate note. Plumy. Hersey's syrup aftertaste, with a hint of raspberry. Tasty and unique.

Mouthfeel is dry, medium-light bodied.

Drinkability is pretty good, this continues the streak with this series, but is the most notably unusual style wise. Tasty quad, a little heavy on the dark malts, surely not just dark candi, but I dig it. A solid BSDA, although billed by them as a quad, so...
