Off the tap at the brewpub this one came to my table a deep amber heading towards brown color. White head one finger thick with good lacing and retention. The aroma was smoky, malt and caramel malt with some earthiness. The flavors were also good, complex malt and spiciness with a semi-sweet chocolate character that became more pronounced as it warmed. The body was medium to heavy and 'wet'. Again, I was surprised by the quality of beer from this newcomer.

Poured a murky dark amber hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured hints of cocoa and some smoked malts.

The taste was complex and malty, with a dry cocoa, some smoke spiciness and a touch of caramel sweetness.

The mouthfeel was full and a touch chewy.

Overall a very good and highly drinkable malty experience.
