Beachside High Tide pours virtually black with a chocolate milk colored head from a brown twelve ounce bottle. The brewery sent an email and had a sign posted in their tasting room saying that this beer is a black ale brewed with pomegranate (bottles of pomegranate juice were visible on the way in to the tasting room, on the brewing floor). The bottle says it's an amber ale. The aroma is quite fruity, I assume that's the pomegranate. The flavor is interesting, the fruit is strong up front and fades eventually to roasted malt flavors. Hops are not really evident. The mouthfeel is kind of medium, and seems almost oily. An interesting beer, not balanced as well as I'd like, but worth a try.
