Surprisingly solid O-fest... Malts dominate with a slightly bitter finish... Very very good effort here... Enjoyed with a sausage and sauerkraut platter and felt like I was in Munich..

Im slowly reviewing all of McGuires seasonal beers as they become available throughout the year. Thus far, the Oktoberfest lager has been the best, though Im eagerly looking forward to the release of their barleywine in the spring.
Brownish clear pour with no bubbles evident. Smallish off-brown tan head that fades fairly quickly leaving minimal lacing. Nose is malty with a moderate amount of hops advertised. Taste is solid and good, with a malt-dominant flavor that is well-balanced against moderately bitter hops. Finishes bitter and clean. Theres a good bready/meaty consistency; this is a full bodied and semi-creamy beer. Drinkability is good; this beer has good flavor and a good substantial body. Easily sessionable. Recommended.
Edit 10/2/07: Chatted up brewmaster Mike on this one. Actually, it's not a lager but an ale, but crafted to present as a lager. Good job!

Very simply surprising... head wandered around the glass long enough to admire... smell was wonderfully mellow with slight earthy undertones.. taste was what one would expect from an Octoberfest, with a slightly heavy malty aftertaste, but as it made the entire mouth happy... would recommend with any of the food.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
