Described by brewmaster Mike as a spiced winter seasonal, this one features ginger, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and honey.
Into a pint glass from the tap, it pours a clear coppery brown color with minor carbonation streams. A thin ring of tan foam caps it, quickly fading, leaving minimal lacing. Nose of sweetish malts, hints of spice, and a touch of banana; couldnt coax much more out even with warming. Tastes of sweet malt up front, slightly buttery, with hints of spices. Lightly bitter finish. I was reminded of a slightly spiced brown ale more than anything. Mouth is well-carbonated, keeping things crisp. Semi-viscous, smooth body. Drinkability is good overall; its surprisingly easygoing for 7.1% ABV, keeping it a sipper, not a quencher, a mistake thats easy to make given its mild flavor.
Overall: A bit disappointing as a Christmas brew, I found it more akin to a lightly spiced brown ale. Worth a try.
