This popular light ale is the lightest of the McGuire's beers. McGuire's Old Fashioned Ale is similar to but a step up from ordinary American factory beer.

Served at McGuire's Pub in Pensacola.
A pleasant surprise. Starting with low expectations -- this is a "light" beer -- the beer itself is a VERY light straw color. It did have a decent white head.
The aroma was not as faint as expected, pleasant, and reminiscent of a good Caribbean lager.
The taste is largely Pils malt and is outstanding ... for a light beer, and it has some body! The Saaz hops were not obvious in the taste except for a mild affect on sweetness.
Highly recommended for those wanting a light beer, but I suppose those folks are unlikely to be reading this.

Called McGuire's Old Fashioned Ale when I was there on 03/27/08.
Very pale yellow with no active carbonation.
Sweet, grainy aroma (almost corn like) with floral hop notes.
Flavor starts well, as that floral hop smell translates into a similar flavor. Then, sadly, everything goes south and you're drinking a corny macro brew all of a sudden. A little parching on the tongue is small consolation.
This is the stuff most brewpubs make to appease the macro crowd.

From the tap a pale yellow clear color with minimal carbonation capped by a thin sheet of foam from the bar pour; some lacing follows. Nose is primarily barley and sweetish malts. Tastes malty, a bit of hops presence balances it outslightly better than your average light macro. Mouth feels light, watery, and lightly bubbly, not too bad. Drinkability is OK; its light and refreshingbut why?
Overall: A pretty average light ale.

Presentation: Sampled at McGuires Irish Pub during a recent visit back to Pensacola. I had tried all but the Raspberry Wheat girlie shite so I figured I would give this one a whirl too.
Appearance: Pale straw body with limited appeal, sort golden hints sit underneath a bleached white head that rests easy and stays a comfortable ¼ thick, for about 47 seconds, then it promptly heads South into the Gulf. Zippy streamer laden conditioning. Looks like fizzy piss .and Im not trying to be funny.
Nose: I tried, honestly I really did, but got ..erm, zip. I think I tried so hard I ended up inhaling and smelling the Silica molecules in the inert glass .
Taste: I think I need GPS or a Compass .Sorry, couldnt find any.
Mouthfeel: Very fizzy, burp material of the highest order.
Drinkability: Easy enough to drink, but it fails miserably to match Spicy food and is way too thin to quench any flavors, its like you drink it, then have a double take ..did I just take a mouthful? ..Blander than Billy Big Bland Balls the winner of the Worldwide Mr. Bland competition. Flaccid to say the least.

Shockingly non-descript. Advertised as being brewed only from Barley, Hops, Water and Yeast seems to me like they used a lot of Ingredient #3 and not much else, is this even fermented I peruse. Could this even be the Worlds first Zero-Calorie beer I wonder? I think even the Bud-Coors-Miller Lite drinkers would be extremely disappointed with this one. Pass. Nil Points

Pale yellow color, decent white frothy head, leaves a nice lace. Very light malt aroma, very light body, almost watery. Not much flavor either, not a bad choice for the American Standard drinker, not for me.
